If you’re a lover a color, chances are you’re familiar with Pantone and its “color of the year.” Year after year, the color is carefully selected by experts at the Pantone Color Institute by combing the world in search of color influences. Think: art, fashion, design, and travel. Pantone’s 2019 “Color of the Year” is “Living Coral,” and at Luxe Furniture & Design we’re eager to start incorporating this bold pop-of-color in our clients’ homes.
If bright, bold colors make you nervous, we understand – and we’re here to help! We’ve tapped Senior Designer at Luxe, Michelle Harrison, to get her perspective on four simple ways to incorporate “Living Coral” in your own home.
If you’re nervous about adding color to your home, start small. Throw pillows are a great way to add color to your home seasonally, and Michelle also suggests incorporating a pair of coral lamps in an otherwise neutral space for a fun pop-of-color.
Art pieces and wall hangings are a beautiful way to brighten up a space and add personality to your walls. Selecting a piece of art with hints of “Living Coral” allows you to experiment with the hue without fully committing to the bright color.

When mixing colors, Michelle keeps balance in mind. “With any color palette, I try to achieve balance. ‘Living Coral’ pairs beautifully with navy and mint for a breezy, beachy nautical look, or any deeper pastel hues for a softer, sophisticated feel.”
If you love “Living Coral” and the color doesn’t make you nervous, Michelle suggests going bold. “You can make this a dominant color by investing in a bold rug or sofa or drapery panels.”
Are you feeling up to the challenge of incorporating “Living Coral” in your home? If so, we’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up!
