There are few items that bring as much life to a space in the spring and summer months as a beautiful floral arrangement. With a combination of different flowers and textures, fresh blooms make the perfect addition to an entryway table, a kitchen island, or even a bathroom vanity. And the good news is — you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to achieve a look that rivals the professionals.
Last month, we hosted a floral design workshop at Luxe, taught by Katie Segner of It’s In The Details. We learned the basics of floral arranging, had some delicious bites and drinks, and went home with our very own arrangement.
Katie’s tips were simple and straightforward. Even without a green thumb, we’re confident you can pull this off!
Remove all leaves before placing your flowers in the vase of water.
Use warm water. This encourages the water to rise to the bloom.
Cut your stems at a 45 degree angle.
When designing your arrangement, add your greenery first, then add flowers from largest to smallest.
Change your water every few days to extend the life of your arrangement.
